Rue de la cité is a socio-economical project whose objective is to keep our youth in the Gaspé area. Undertaken as an insertion organization, its goal is to ease the youth’s socio economical integration. More precisely, it is a multi functional concept from and for young adults of the region. A concept aware of their needs and goals, which will become a place to gather and exchange: mostly in the form of a café held in a youth hostel. The project, highly oriented on ecological matters, is underway. It needs voluntary labour, people who believe in its potential. The business plan phase is completed, we are now at the crucial step of looking for funding. International Exchange Project – Vocational training sessions in hotel and food services

Thanks to the collaboration of the Local Mission of Vaulx-en-Velin, located in the area of Rhône-Alpes in France, we have the opportunity, twice over the period of 2001 – 2004, to offer  57 youths from France and from Gaspésie/Îles-de-la-Madeleine a training session of 10 weeks in hotels and restaurants. We are now preparing the third edition of this event. In the upcoming Summer season, youth from France will be attending their training session in the Gaspe region. For their part, eligible candidates from the Gaspe area could be sent in France in Spring 2008. They should be back on time for the tourist season in Quebec, thus not missing their chance to find a good job upon their return. Many youth who participated in this international exchange in the previous years can tell you how much they appreciated their learning experience. Some of them even started their own business, and most of them found a job in their vocation.
